Our Successes this year
Students in the CLF Post 16, part of the Cabot Learning Federation, achieved some stunning results this year. Students achieved well in both in academic and vocational courses, with high numbers moving on to their preferred destinations, whether that was university, college or higher level apprenticeships in their chosen careers.
Yr. 13 Achievement & Success
Among those with much to celebrate were Katie George. Originally a student at John Cabot Academy, Katie will be going to study English at Oxford University, having gained all A* and A grades in her A levels. Stunning success was also achieved by Lauren Pratt. Lauren joined John Cabot Academy in Year 7 and in 2010 became seriously ill, resulting in long absences from school and extensive rehabilitation. In spite of the additional challenges she faced, Lauren battled through to achieve A* in all of her subjects. Lauren plans to study linguistics at Cambridge following a year travelling, during which she will teach English in China.
Hanham Woods Academy alumni also fared well: Sam Noakes, is off to his first choice university, Northumbria, to study Product Design and Ella Gibson, will be training to be a teacher at UWE. Two students who joined the CLF Post 16 from Bristol Brunel Academy are Alex Elliot, who will be studying maths at Sheffield University after achieving an A* and Taranjeet Sooriya, who will be studying for a degree in Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation. Braving the traffic every day to cross Bristol to her home academy of King’s Oak, Nawaal Hussein managed to ultimately achieve her goal to study for a degree in Business and Tourism Management at Bath Spa University.
Pioneers of the highly successful Boomsatsuma Agency, based at Bristol Metropolitan Academy, completed their course this year with some stunning outcomes, having made some extraordinary progress. Abdisalan Mohamed, who joined the academy when new to the UK in Year 9, achieved an unconditional place at London Metropolitan University to study Drama and Heena Ahmed will be off to UWE off to study Sociology.
