Spotlight - Teachers for Tomorrow

In 2011 the CLF became one of the first designated Teaching Schools in the country and successfuly operates teacher training for both Post 16 students and professionals, right up to NPQH level where it trains the head teachers of tomorrow.

Teachers for Tomorrow is an innovative year long programme aimed at Post 16 students who have an interest in becoming teachers in the future. The course takes place on Friday afternoons from September to May when all Post 16 students have private study time. It includes a wide variety of theory and practical activities and seeks to develop a range of personal skills including communication, teamwork, collaboration, reflective thinking and self-management.

The programme allows students to take part in the observation, planning and delivery of teaching activities with the aim of reinforcing their desire to join the teaching profession. The programme also serves to improve their understanding of teaching and learning and improves their abilities to gain access to teaching qualifications in the future.

The course is an essential enrichment opportunity for anyone wishing to persue a career in teaching and related occupations and will certainly enhance future university and job applications.
