Art & Design Textiles
The aim of the first year is to explore and develop a portfolio of techniques and artistic approaches based on a variety of starting points, concepts, themes or an issue. You will work in with a wide variety of textile materials and use fine art, graphical and digital communication to extend your design skills.
Component 1: This is a personal practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The investigation must show clear development from initial intentions leading to a finished outcome or series of outcomes. Component 2: Externally set assignment.
After completing the course you will be able to progress to university to an Textiles related degree course or a pre-degree Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. You will develop knowledge, transferable skills and personal skills with the aim of enhancing employability.
The Textiles industry has many strands that you can specialise in. An A Level in Fashion Textiles could be the start of a career in fashion design, textile design, costume design, surface pattern and even fashion buying and merchandising. However, all companies realise that creativity and good design are important factors in generating new business.
