Course Overview
Year 1

F711: German speaking. Discuss a topic of your choice and complete a role-play card. Unit is worth 25% of AS grade.
F712: German listening, reading and writing. Complete an exam paper (2 ½ hours long) at the end of the year assessing listening and reading comprehension and written language skills. Unit is worth 75% of AS grade.

Year 2

F713: German speaking. Present a topic of your choice and discuss a stimulus card on one of the topics studied during the course. Unit is worth 25% of A2 grade.
F714: German listening, reading and writing. Complete an exam paper at the end of the year (2 hours 45mins long) assessing listening and reading comprehension and written language skills.

Progression

University degree in German. If you are looking for an apprenticeship in Engineering, German will be a useful language to have. German is an advantageous language to have if you would like to work a ski-season whilst travelling.

Careers

Engineering; pharmaceuticals; manufacturing; If you are interested in snow sports, German is a good language to have for the winter tourism industry.

More people speak German as their native language than any other language in Europe.

Opportunities for work-related activities:

German A Level students are given the opportunity to network with other students of German across the city at regular film events, and also have the chance to attend lectures at university to experience further study of languages. They also have the opportunity to visit a German-speaking country at least once during the course.
